#TsurikiReviews : April Skin Turn-Up Bleach

Hihi everyone!

If you have been reading my blog or following my Instagram long enough, you would realise that I love changing my hair colour.

And ever since 2-3 years back, after not being sponsored by any hair salons, I have been mostly doing my own hair colour by myself.

And sometimes, helping my friends' with theirs, too.

One main thing about being able to achieve the ideal hair colour has got to be the bleach you use to clean of your natural hair colour before putting on other funky colours.

All these while, I have been using this brand called Beauteen under Hoyu which I get off-shelves in Japan.

Singapore stopped bringing in Beauteen for quite some time I realised...

I usually use their bleach and some times their colour dye, too, as they are really affordable and gives great results as compared to many other drugstore brands you can find in the market.

But I decided to give Korean drugstore brands a try this time!

Many people have been talking about Aprilskin's Turn-Up Color Treatment recently so I went online to check on it.

I ordered them through Qoo10 which was $18.90SGD for 6 packets of bleach.

Which is about $3.15SGD per bleach before shipping.

If you are interested, this is where I got my bleach from:

http://www.qoo10.sg/su/412921025/Q101068860?inflow_referer=http%3A%2F%2Fqoo10sg

I got only their bleach this time and not their color treatment as I estimated the amount of "dye" I need for the hair colour I wanna go for... It seemed that I will need quite a few tubes to be able to mix them to achieve the colour I want. On top of that, I'm not too sure if that amount will be enough for my hair, too.

Each packet of bleach comes with one packet of bleach powder and one packet of creme activator.

Make sure to mix the mixture really really well before application.

If you are worried about the very strong bleach smell, I must say that this is one of the least stinging bleach I've come across till date.

For my medium-long hair, I used ONE packet to highlight the lower half of my hair first.

I then bleach almost all of my hair, again, with TWO packets of bleach. This 2 packets were more than enough for just the lower half of my hair.

However, 1 packet alone was not enough.

So if you have medium-long hair like me and going for a ombre hair for about half your hair length, 3 packets should be able to get job done for a 2 times bleach.

This is how my hair turned out after bleaching.
(The photo above was taken under warm light thus a little more yellowish than seen by the naked eyes)

From left to right, light to dark:
Bleached 2X, bleached 1X, dyed dark brown 4 months ago.

As you can see, the hair isn't that much damaged.

Ignoring that fact that this photo was not in focus, just focus on the colour of my hair!

The areas that was bleach twice was really quite close to white which was not I expected from drugstore brand's bleach for sure.

And like mentioned, my hair isn't that damaged even which is really a pleasant surprise.

Considering that this bleach seriously isn't that expensive but in fact really cheap, I was not expecting it to produce such good results!

So if you ask me if I will repurchase it?

Oh YES! Sure thing!

Its results is amazing and super affordable!

Plus it comes in small packeta of small amount which is good if you are gonna highlight then bleach your hair, again, while you need to work in small portions. This is perfect!

The only cons I can find fault with this bleach is that it does not come with any pH balance serum for your hair after bleaching like other Japaneae brands that I've tried before but as it is this less damaging to your hair, I think without that serum seriously wouldn't make much of a difference.

Ok! That's all for this post!
If you have any questions, do feel free to leave me a comment and I wil reply and hope to help you solve your questions and doubts!

See you in my next post! Till then, stay warm from the crazy weather!

Xoxo, Tsuriki.

Korean Spicy Rice Cake 떡볶이

Hi everyone!
Ok! It's been a long time since I last blog on recipes for food.
This is gonna be the first time I'm blogging on recipe that's not on dessert.
Lol~

I totally love Korean Spicy Rice Cake ever since like 6-7 years ago.
Although I'm a person that doesn't eat chili and either do I usually spicy food but still I love TteokBokKi!

Yup, korean spicy rice cake is called 떡볶이 in Korean pronounced as Tteok-Bok-Ki (トッポッキ).

So now! I'm gonna share with everyone how to cook TteokBokKi yourself!
Ok. I wanna add that this recipe is what I came up with after looking through many different recipes I can find online and on YouTube.
I modified the recipe a little cos I couldn't find some ingredients.

So! Here's the ingredients needed, or rather I used!

  • Onions

  • Carrot

  • Spring onions

  • A packet of TteokBokKi.
I bought this packet from the Korean 'supermarket' at Square2.

  • TteokBokKi paste.
You can always get TteokBokKi sauce instead if you don't feel confident making your own sauce.
But if you do get the sauce, you can just heat the sauce and put in the rice cake, cook at low heat till the rice cake is soft

  • The packet of tteokbokki I bought. Got this packet for around $6.
There are quite a few choices of tteokbokki at the supermarket so I just bought the cheapest one. =P

The TteokBokKi paste I bought. I got this bottle for around $4. Seriously...
I still have half a bottle left even after making that huge pot of tteokbokki!

Ok. I read online in a certain recipe that if you buy the instant tteokbokki like the one I bought, you have to soak it in water for around 20 minutes first.

    Seriously, I think that's a huge mistake!

I'm not too sure about other brands, but if you're gonna get the exact packet that I got, DO NOT SOAK IT!!! Just leave it out to defrost while you prepare the other ingredients.

So yes, I soaked my rice cake. T-T

I seriously think that's why my rice cake was not able to absorb the taste of the sauce later on because it's "filled with water"! TAT

Cut my onions into big slices as I'm making onion stock for the base instead of anchovy stock as I couldn't find them!
So if you could, it's of course better to use anchovy to boil you stock first!

    Carrots and spring onions prepared!

3-4 cups of water + onions + carrots

Like mentioned, if you have anchovy, use anchovy and boil them in 4 cups of water for about 10 mins.

So yes... leave it to boil for around 10 mins.

While waiting, grab a drink! Muahahaha~

OK. If you're wondering, yes I bleached my eyebrows that's why they are so much lighter.
And this photo was taken like 2-3 days after I bleached them.
    TADA! Now you know... Lol

Drained the water for the rice cakes after I finished my packet of drink.

So after boiling for around 10 mins, if you used anchovy, remove them from the water.

    Else, let's continue!

Add about 350ml of tteokbokki paste into the stock.
If you want your tteokbokki to be more spicy, well go ahead and add more!

By right, you need to add in some sugar depending on how sweet you want your rice cake to be, I didn't add in any cause there's no more sugar in the house! T-T

So ya, if you're adding, you can add before or after the tteokbokki paste. =)

    Stir well!

    Add in your rice cakes!

    Stir well

Let it boil for about 3 minutes on medium heat.
Remember to check and stir well from time to time.

    Add in spring onions

Leave it to boil on low heat till sauce thickens.
And still, remember to check from time to time and stir well! =)

And TADA!!! Your very own TteokBokKi!

    드립니다!(いただきます!)

So I hope everyone enjoy this post on how to cook tteokbokki!

    じゃ、今ここまで。
    안녕!(バイバイ!)

    韓国化粧品 Hope Girl のイベント

    안녕하세요(アニヨンハセヨー)

    Hi everyone!
So why did I start this post with Korean?

Yesterday I went for one of Korean's famous cosmetic brand, Hope Girl's soft launch event at Heeren ALT.

Happy me can't wait to try the products!

There was this "doll-up" table for us to play around with the products of Hope Girl!

The full range available in Singapore

I met Christy there and we were like having a load of great fun trying out the products!

So let me introduce to you the range of products Hope Girl carries in Singapore!

Powder which comes in 2 shades

    Korean's greatest invention, BB Cream.

The Triple Action Multi BB (left) gives a matte finish
whereas the Pink Diva Shimmery BB (right) is of course shimmery!
    Great for highlight!

    Here's Christy and I!

    Guess what?!
Christy only had Hope Girl's Triple Action Multi BB on with Hope Girl's Pink Diva Shimmery BB on her cheek bones!

    Looks so pretty right?!
    No photoshop oh~!

    Cute blushers of Hope Girl

Each blusher comes with this small, handy blusher brush.

There's 2 shades of pink and a shimmery one for highlight!

    Hope Girl's Milky Balm Lipstick

I fell in love with it like mad immediately after testing!

There's a total of 5 shades of lipstick.
You're sure to find one that suits you!

Just SEE how milky they look!
No wonder they're called MILKY BALM LIPSTICK!!!

    Hope Girl's Night Diva Gloss

Don't think it's just another ordinary lipgloss okay~

Each lipgloss has a mirror on it so you can re-apply your gloss anytime, anywhere!

And turn on the LED light with the button on top and you have yourself a portable lightstick!
    Now you're ready to party!

LOL. You can use it during concerts, too!
Just joking! But c'mon! It IS another use for it, right?

Hope Girl's full range of eyeshadow which is super good!

A total of 10 different shades and colours!

Now I'll show you how they look like after applied!

    Applied on Christy's arm

    Applied on my fingers

    And which are my favourite?

I really love these 2 shades of brown!
One dark, one light which is give to create a natural but yet big dolly eye look that I wear super duper often!
And with the shimmer in the eyeshadow, it's glam and elegant enough for dinners, too!

Now let me show you how different just these 2 shade is able to do!

    Before

    After

I applied only minimun dark shade on outer half and light shade on inner half of my eyelids!
See how deep my eye(s) appeared to be!?

    Next eyeliner and eyebrow crayon

    Thickness of the liquid eyeliner

Now to put the eyeliner to the test!

Although the eyeliner may appear to look pretty thick, it isn't when applied!

I left the eyeliner on for a few minuted while I tried the other items and gave it a hard rub!

I rubbed my hand till it's red already and only a very small amount faded!
Although it is THAT lasting, it is super easy to remove!

GREAT! I'm so getting it after I finish my current one!

    And...

Hope Girl's liquid eyeliner is Formulated in Japan!

The 3 shades of eyebrow crayon Hope Girl carries!

Hope Girl has this under eye magic cleaner that helps clean off any smudges through-out anytime of the day!
Especially with this humid weather in Singapore, eyeliner tends to smudge and stuff... This under eye cleaner s such a life-saver!

    Hope Girl's Mascara

Look at the unique shape of the mascara brush!

Ended off the event with yummy pastries!

    Ok. So after alllllll this,
